Disclosure

Picky Eats earns money in a small number of ways. Readers deserve to know all of them.

Affiliate links

Some product links on the site are affiliate links. The most common are Amazon Associates links, which means if you click through and buy something within a short window, Picky Eats earns a small commission. The price you pay is exactly the same as if you had searched for the product directly. Other affiliate programmes we may use over time include kitchen gear brands, cookware retailers, meal kit services, and food subscription companies. Whenever a link is an affiliate link, you can assume it.

Affiliate commissions fund the testing budget. They do not buy a product its place on a list. We have reviewed plenty of affiliate products negatively. We have linked to retailers we do not have affiliate relationships with when those retailers had the better price or the better return policy.

Display advertising

The site may run display advertising at some point. If it does, the ads will be served by a network and will be clearly marked. Picky Eats does not control which specific ads you see. We do not accept native advertising or “sponsored content” that mimics editorial.

Product samples

Most kitchen gear we review is purchased by the site. When a manufacturer sends a sample, the review will say so in plain language at the top of the piece. Receiving a sample does not guarantee a positive review, and we have published unfavourable reviews of samples we were sent.

Press meals

Restaurant reviews are written after meals we paid for. If a restaurant offers a press meal, we usually decline. When we accept, the review notes it. Press meals are noted at the top of the piece, not buried at the bottom.

What we do not accept

No paid “guest posts,” no “editorial partnerships,” no link insertions, no commission to remove negative reviews. If a brand offers any of those, the email is filed away and not replied to.

How to spot a paid placement on Picky Eats

There are not any. If you find something that looks like one, it is either an honest editorial recommendation or a mistake. Email editor@pickywops.com and we will look at it.
