Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains what Picky Eats collects when you visit the site, what we do with it, and how you can ask us to remove it. Plain English, no legalese where we can help it.

What we collect automatically

When you visit Picky Eats, our hosting provider and our analytics tools log standard server information: your IP address, the page you requested, the page that referred you, your approximate location based on IP, your device type, and your browser. This information is aggregated and used to understand which articles people are reading and how the site is performing. It is not used to identify individual readers.

Cookies

Picky Eats uses a small number of cookies. WordPress sets cookies when you leave a comment so the form remembers your name and email. Analytics tools set cookies to count unique visitors and measure pageviews. If we add display advertising in the future, those networks may set additional cookies. You can clear cookies at any time through your browser settings without affecting your ability to read the site.

If you contact us

When you email editor@pickywops.com or comment on an article, we keep your message and your email address. We use them only to reply to you and, if relevant, to follow up on the topic of your message. We do not sell or share email addresses with anyone.

Affiliate networks

If you click an affiliate link on Picky Eats and end up on Amazon or another retailer, that company has its own privacy policy and may set its own cookies on your device. We do not control what those companies do with your information. Reading their privacy policies before purchasing is a reasonable habit.

How long we keep things

Server logs roll off after a few weeks. Analytics data is retained for the standard window of the analytics tool, which is typically twelve to twenty-six months. Email correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful, and deleted on request.

Your rights

If you want to see what information we have associated with you, or you want it deleted, email editor@pickywops.com. We will respond within a reasonable window. Readers in the UK and EU have rights under GDPR, and readers in California have rights under the CCPA. We will honour valid requests under either.

Children

Picky Eats is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under thirteen.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, the new version will be posted on this page with a revised date at the bottom. Material changes will be noted at the top of the page for a reasonable period.
